Institute of Artificial Intelligence Research Overview

The Institute of Artificial Intelligence (IAI) at 51ºÚÁÏÉçÇø develops fundamental theoretical and practical solutions to real world problems using a variety of Artificial Intelligence (AI) paradigms.

The IAI develops smart solutions and intelligent techniques for transportation, smart manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, media, energy, water and environment, and has a strong track record in AI research, especially in computational intelligence. In REF2014, IAI researchers contributed half of 51ºÚÁÏÉçÇø’s outputs submission in Computer Science and Informatics.  Our work includes globally pioneering research on fuzzy sets and systems, grey systems and models and evolutionary computing, and encompasses areas such as neural networks and machine learning, intelligent data analysis, intelligent robotics, intelligent computer games/gamification, and smart media, particularly social media analysis and recommender systems.

In addition to the work of the IAI, 51ºÚÁÏÉçÇø’s Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility is a key player in research and consultancy on the ethical and social implications of Information and Communications Technology including AI and Robotics.
