Stuart Dawkins BA, MSc, MBA
Stuart Dawkins joined 51ºÚÁÏÉçÇø as an Independent Governor in August 2022 and is a member of the Finance & Performance Committee.
Stuart was born in Leicester and lives in the city. He has strong experience as a director and trustee covering a wide variety of organisations in the public, private and third sectors.
His career in banking culminated in a role on the Executive Committee of FTSE100 company, Alliance & Leicester plc as Director of Corporate Communications, having previously been Head of Strategic Planning.
He now has a portfolio of non-executive roles, mostly linked to Leicester, Leicestershire and the surrounding region. He spent ten years on the Board of the East Midlands Ambulance Service, seven as Deputy Chair. He is currently Chair of the Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation, he is a Director of East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire) – chairing the Risk & Audit Committee – and will be its President for 2023. He is also a Director of the EMB Group which provides business support services.
In the educational sector, he was Chair of Governors at Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I Sixth Form College in Leicester for five years - overseeing the successful merger of two colleges – and remains a Governor there. He was a lay member of the Audit Committee of the University of Leicester for four years.
Stuart is Secretary of Welland Valley Cycling Club and still road races from time to time. He is also a board member of the Foxes Trust, the official Supporters’ Trust for Leicester City Football Club.
He has a BA in Economics & Mathematics from Liverpool University, an MSc in Econometrics & Mathematical Economics from the LSE and an MBA from Kingston University. His earlier career included working for HM Treasury, the Inland Revenue and a small management consultancy.
