Personal profile

Linda Glover is Principal Investigator for a longitudinal industry-funded research project. This project focuses on a period of change within a major MNC and examines the translation of modern managerial practices into the workplace. It contrasts the experiences of management, HR professionals, trade unions and employees and traces the individual and organisational consequences that flowed from a sophisticated programme of organisational change that had workplace partnership at its core. The project commenced in 2006 and is ongoing. The results have been presented at a range of conferences and have appeared in journals including the Human Resource Management Journal, British Journal of Industrial Relations, British Journal of Management and Economic and Industrial Democracy. Her research interests also include employee engagement initiatives, examining the consequences of organisational change for the HR function, the transfer of HR knowledge across borders in MNCs and HRM in China.

Evaluating employee experiences of and responses to changing organisational conditions including:

  • Employee experiences of new management techniques such as HPWS, employee engagement and work reorganisation in MNCs
  • Unravelling how management translate new practices into the workplace
  • Charting  the experiences of management, HR professionals, trade unions and employees as new management techniques unfold in the workplace
  • Evaluating experiences of, and outcomes from, workplace partnership
  • Evaluating the organisational outcomes from employee engagement initiatives

Areas of teaching

Linda currently lectures HRM on undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervises dissertations and work-based projects and is a module leader
